Old Baldy

The hike is relatively flat, crossing the top of the cliff-face. Vistas over the sweeping Beaver Valley are exhilarating. In all likelihood hawks will soar overhead.

History

The foray into fine wine production in the area began in the late 1990ies... John Ardiel, Murray Puddicombe, and Robert Ketchin, founders of Georgian Hills, began experimenting with the variables of fine wine production in 1998, leading to the planting of five acres of vines in the Beaver Valley near Ravenna. In 1999, Neil Lamont, founder and, with his spouse Gwen, co-proprietor of Coffin Ridge, noticed wild grapes growing along the sides of the road east of Owen Sound. He decided to plant various varieties of wine grapes on his property to see if they would survive. Not only did they survive, they THRIVED.
